Om kirken

Sømandskirken er folkekirken i USA og tilbyder kirkelige, sociale og kulturelle tilbud til alle med relation til Danmark. Sømandskirkens historie går tilbage til de store udvandringer til USA i slutningen af det 19. århundrede og har udviklet sig i takt med de forandringer der er sket med søfarten og danskernes liv i USA.

Sømandskirken er en selvstændig kirke, samt en velgørenheds-og religiøs organisation under Danske Sømands- og Udlandskirker og under Københavns Biskop Peter Skov-Jakobsen i kirkelige spørgsmål.

The Danish Seamen's Church is a Danish church in the U.S. It offers religious, social and cultural opportunities for all people with relations to Denmark. The history of The Danish Seamen's Church goes back to the great emigration to America in the late 19th century and has evolved with the changes that have happened in the Danish shipping industry and the life in America.

The Danish Seamen's Church is a private church, as well as a charitable and religious organization under The Danish Seamen's Churches Abroad and the Copenhagen Bishop Peter Skov-Jakobsen in ecclesiastical matters.
